NEW MONSTER THERMOFORMING MACHINE - LARGEST IN THE WESTERN U.S.
Ray Products Inc. Firmly Establishes Leadership Role with Massive 10’ x 18’ Rotary Thermoforming Machine.
August 15, 2005 (Ontario, California) ...Ray Products Inc. / Plastics a leader in thermoforming heavy gauge thermoplastic materials for over five decades is now home to the largest rotary thermoforming machine in the Western United States. Requiring five flatbed trailers to move the completed machine from Michigan to California, the new custom made MODERN 1018 223 Rotary Thermoforming Machine features a forming window of 10’ x 18’. This feature gives the company a dominating competitive advantage against Midwest and offshore competition. The machine will provide Ray Products’ customers; described as part designers and original equipment manufacturers, the ability to thermoform extremely large parts, using plastic sheets up to 10’ x 18’ at a thickness from .060” to .500”.
According to Brian Ray, President, Ray Products, Inc. “We have brought a service and capability that was once only located east of the Mississippi River. Now, customers on the West Coast can enjoy the added flexibility that large part thermoforming has to offer from a local supplier. We have identified several local companies that have a need for large custom thermoform parts, and now is the time to meet with them and show them our new capabilities.
No longer will part designers, engineers and purchasing managers need to look only at the Midwest for large part capabilities. Manufacturers of recreational vehicles, pools, spas camper shells, truck bed liners, retail displays, sports and leisure products, custom materials handling solutions and automotive companies can now look to Ray Products as their source for large custom thermoforming.
It is expected that the MODERN 1018 223R machine will quickly achieve high levels of operational efficiency, especially when considering the cost competition of off shore production. With its three-station carousel system, machine operators at Ray Products are able to maintain continued loading, thermoforming and unloading in one smooth process. Ray Products’ intends to build on its current acquisition expanding into new and existing markets with its new capability.
The company has scheduled a dedication ceremony of its new machine to be held at the company headquarters in Ontario, California on Thursday, September 1, 2005. Invitations to attend have been sent to California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ontario Mayor, Paul Leon, customers and industry officials. The media is invited.
For over five decades, Ray Products has been a world-class leader in thermoforming heavy gauge thermoplastic materials. Combining skilled craftsmen, advanced 3D CAD/CAM technology and specialized vacuum/pressure forming equipment, Ray Products is meeting and exceeding today’s rigid demand for innovative product development – economically.

NEW SU100 STANDUP KIOSK MANUFACTURED WITH RAY PRODUCTS’ PRESSURE FORMING TECHNOLOGY
Interactive Kiosk described as “Swiss Army Knife” of Kiosk as it supports Several Peripheral Devices; Receipt Printer, Laser Printer, Card Reader, Audio and More
April 5, 2000 (Ontario, CA) ...Ray Products, Inc. / Plastics utilizing its proven pressure forming technology, was selected by North Technologies, Los Angeles to manufacture the front bezel of the company’s new SU100 StandUp Kiosk. The SU100 bezel offers rugged features designed to support peripheral devices, including receipt printer, laser printer, card reader / PIN pad, integrated audio. The modular design was a natural for the pressure forming process because of annual volumes and tooling cost. The part is molded using a textured tool and color matched material. According to a company spokesperson, “by molding in color, secondary painting operations costs are reduced.” After forming, the part is loaded onto a 5-axis CNC routing center, where it is trimmed to final specifications. The end unit is durable, aesthetically pleasing, and cost effective.
All the features seen from the front of the kiosk are molded in, and trimmed from the back of the part. This allows for surfaces that are visible by the end user to be free from trim chatter and deburring marks. The tooling for this project was aluminum, and is guaranteed for the life of production. Through the use of removable inserts, the tool is able to manufacture different part configurations for the customer without having to have new tools created.
